In many ways WCS is "breaking ranks" with the
typical elementary /secondary educational institution.
Our modern world calls for innovation and vision when approaching
the needs of today's Christian families. Although the academic
classroom will forever be necessary to facilitate the scope
and sequence of subject matter, a Christian school has
responsibilities beyond the classroom in order to prepare
our youth "for here and eternity."
WCS offers a Three-Dimensional Program of education for
the middle and high school students. It consists of a Spiritual
Development Program, an Academic Development Program, and
a Student Activity Program. Each one of these three dimensions
receives equal attention in application, as explained in
the following articles. Students receive instruction through
varied experiences and utilize planned and proven methods
to elevate them to a greater level of education - spiritually,
formally, and practically.
To augment the Three-Dimensional Program, WCS has designed
all school activities to be a part of the educational process.
From the time students set foot on the campus in the morning,
until they leave school in the afternoon, every movement,
regulation and activity is structured with one of the three
dimensions in mind.
The administration, faculty and staff of Westbury Christian
School are serious about "Preparing Youth for Here
and Eternity." To accomplish this goal, they are committed
as educators and spiritual mentors to the students and
as partners with the home.

The
Spiritual Dimension...
Westbury Christian School is a special place for
those parents who take biblical instruction seriously in
the raising of their children. It is a special place for
students who are interested in spiritual training. WCS
is also a special place for those families and students
who have not pursued the Christian walk, but who respect
it and see the importance of it in their lives.
One objective of WCS is to glorify Jesus Christ through
the teaching of His gospel. Every administrator and faculty
member is a committed Christian. The learning experience
at WCS is enhanced with an environment dictated by Christian
principals. Bible is taught every day and chapel is an
integral part of school life. All academic classes, social
and athletic activities, as well as spontaneous events,
are conducted with Christian perspectives in mind.

The
Academic Dimension...
An accredited academic program consists of quality
teachers, a challenging curriculum, and in-depth study
resources. Our students learn from teachers who demand
and expect the best. The Southern Association of Colleges
and Schools (SACS) scrutinizes the quality of the curriculum
before issuing accreditation. The WCS library has over
15,000 volumes, CD-ROM discs, plus Internet access for
inexhaustible resources. A concerned and well-informed
staff in the Guidance Center services WCS students.
Departmental "core" academic offerings comply
with the Texas Education Association requirements, as well
as the standards of SACS. The curriculum also includes
electives that meet student needs and interests. The WCS
curriculum offers a two-track program: regular and advance.
SAT scores compete favorably with the best Christian Schools
across America. Our graduates attend many prestigious universities
and colleges.

The
Student Activities Dimension...
The Student Activity Dimension at WCS is an integral
part of the educational process. This dimension is the
perfect complement to the classroom, not because students
learn how to become more proficient in sports, drama
or music, but because they learn how to become productive
people in an interdependent society. Valuable lessons
in applied Christian ethics, morals and values are learned
in activities outside the classroom. Under the leadership
of Christian mentors, students gain a personal awareness
of honesty and integrity with themselves and others.
Student activities are offered to all middle and high
school students. These activities include sports, band,
choral music, drama, debate, and service clubs, to name
a few. Successful participation in one or more activities
each school year is a requirement for high school students
for graduation. An additional requirement for graduation,
is the completion of 10 hours of community service each
semester.
WCS has outstanding facilities for student activities.
The Fine Art Center, gymnasium complex, and stage facility
are among the finest for secondary schools.
WCS is a member of the Texas Association of Private and
Parochial Schools (TAPPS). Classified 4-A, beginning the
2002-2003 school year, the Wildcats compete in athletics
with private and public schools across the state.
