Class rank is based on your cumulative numeric average from all 4 years of high school. Five extra points are figured into your average for every Pre-AP class you take and ten points for every AP class you take.
Seniors: You are required to take either the SAT or the ACT and have the scores sent to WCS in order to graduate. You have been given a SAT Online Prep Course through College Board. See Mr. White if you do not have your access code.
PSAT – This is a pre-SAT. All sophomores and juniors are required to take the exam. You may prepare for this by using the SAT Online Prep Course that was given to you. If you need an access code, see Mr. White. Juniors who take the exam may qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Contest if their score is high enough.
Plan – This is a pre-ACT. All sophomores are required to take the exam.
College Ed – All students in grades 7-12 are enrolled in College Ed. This is a program that teaches students what they should be doing to prepare for college, according to their current grade. The course lasts ten weeks during the fall semester.

+ Financial Aid Services and Scholarship Information
Students need to complete the online FAFSA application at www.fafsa.ed.gov. It has to be completed by January of a student’s senior year. The application criteria is based on your income. Most schools will require you to do this regardless if you qualify for federal student aid.
Here are a few recent scholarship opportunities that just came in. Please note the deadlines for making your application.
Healthy Lifestyles Scholarship (Deadline: April 30, 2011)
This $5000 scholarship is open to students currently enrolled as high school students or first-year college students. To be eligible for this award you must be under 25 years of age and answer both of the essay questions.
Dial My Dentist Scholarship Program (Deadline: May 6, 2011)
This $1000 scholarship is available to students between the ages of 16 and 21. In the fall of this year (September 2011), the student must be attending College or University full-time.
S.S. Scholarship Program (Deadline: June 1, 2011)
This $1000 scholarship is available to any student that is 21 years or under, as of June 1, 2011.
Big Dig Scholarship (Deadline: June 1, 2011)
This $3000 scholarship is for students who submit an essay that is under 1000 words and are currently in high school or in their first two years of college/university.
2011 ICBC Scholarship (Deadline: June 15, 2011)
This $1000 scholarship is open to students that are between the ages of 17-21 that are residents of the US or Canada. A student can be enrolled or intending on enrolling in any course of study in the fall semester of 2011.

Texas Common Application: www.applytexas.org This application allows you to apply to all Texas public universities by using one application.
The Common Application: www.commonapp.org Many private universities use the common application. Visit this website to see if the school to which you are applying uses this application.
+ For Athletes
In order to play sports at a NCAA school you must qualify through the NCAA Clearinghouse. Click here to begin the process. You will need to request a transcript from WCS to be sent to the Clearinghouse.
To Request a Transcript:
Fill out a Transcript request form in the Upper School office.
Be sure to include the name of the school and address.
Your transcript will be completed in 24 hours.
Your transcript will then be sent to the Business Office.
Your account must be clear before a transcript can be sent.
We will mail or fax your transcript to the desired location.
