We invite you to join us for worship at Westbury Church of Christ led by the faculty and staff at WCS, and immediately following we will serve lunch and begin the
Legacy Tile Decorating Event.
We are inviting current WCS students and their families, and even grandparents to participate in
this event. Make your mark on the playground leaving your family’s legacy for many years to come.
We are offering 2 Tile Decorating Packages at this event, as well as an opportunity for a larger
donation option to sponsor a bench for the playground.
We will be permanently displaying the decorated Legacy Tiles on the wall by the playground to be
enjoyed by current, past and future students, parents, teachers and visitors. Proceeds from this
event will go directly towards covering the cost for the new Lower School Playground. As
Believers, we are promised that God will direct our steps, work all things to our good and give
us of His goodness. Learning to trust and depend on God is essential. Be a part of this historical
event and leave a lasting mark on the new playground!

Led in Pied Piper fashion by the trumpet call of band director Mike Smith, the preK3 through 1st grade students were called from their classrooms at 9:00am on Wednesday morning to a special ceremony on the new primary department playground. Principal Casey Farris opened with a prayer for safety and enjoyment of the new equipment and was followed by a special ribbon cutting by Cody Glenn, Ian Frank, and John Adams (senior and junior students who used the old playground equipment when they were in preschool) using preschool safety scissors. Mrs. Sheila Kaldis wrapped up the formal portion of the ceremony with, “I now declare this playground open” as preK3 and preK4 students ran to play while Kindergarten and 1st grade students blew celebratory bubbles around the festivities.
“The construction of the playground is a huge step of faith. We wanted a safe play area for the primary department at the beginning of this school year; but, we didn’t have all the funds collect yet to pay for it. Mr. Glenn basically said to build it and that God would find a way,” said Farris. A few efforts took place at the end of last school year to start the fundraising process, including a gift from the PTO and a portion of the proceeds from the Fun-a-thon, but to date only 25% of the funds needed have been raised. One way WCS parents are being asked to aid this effort is through the support of this year’s magazine sale with a share of the revenue benefiting this project. Two ladies, Shara Carr (wife of AD Russell Carr and mother of future students) and Jennifer White (wife of guidance counselor Mike White and mother of two current students), are in the process of organizing a tile project to run after the magazine sale concludes in mid-September that will raise funds specifically to help pay this expense. Parents are encouraged to participate in the magazine sale, look for the tile project information and/or contact Catherine Tinkler, Director of Development, to support this effort.
