Admissions Procedures

Step 1 Application, Records, & Fee

Submit the following documents to the Admissions Office:

• A completed Enrollment Application (WCS will notarize it for you if you sign in person in the Admissions Office).
• A current photograph with student's name on the back.
• A clear copy of student’s report card for the current school year
• Copies of student’s report cards for the previous 2 years
• Copies of student’s Achievement Test Scores for the previous 2 years (TAKS, Stanford, etc.)
• Copy of student’s up-to-date immunization record 
• Recommendation Forms from student’s current English teacher and Math teacher (Forms can be downloaded from website-required for students entering grades 5-12) Forms must be mailed or faxed directly to WCS from the teachers. A parent signature is required on the form before it is given to the teacher. WCS uses the same form as several other private schools. There is only one form for applicants for grade 5.
• The application fee must be paid for applicants entering grades 5-12. Applicants for K4 to 4th grade pay the application fee at the testing appointment.
• Copy of student’s birth certificate (required for K3, K4, Kindergarten and 1st Grade only)

The following groups receive a priority status regarding enrollment:  Siblings of current students, staff children, members of an area Church of Christ, children of WCS alumni, and families enrolling more than one child.

Step 2 Testing

K4-4th Grade
All Applications and records are previewed by the Admissions Committee.  If the student has met the admission requirements, the file is complete, and space is available, you will be contacted to schedule a testing date & pay the Application Fee.

The Developmental Test given to applicants for K4, K5, and 1st grade must indicate that the student is developmentally ready for our program.

5th – 12th Grade
All applicants for 5th-12th grade are required to take the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE).  The ISEE is a nationally normed, standardized test held at sites throughout the Houston area, as well as Westbury Christian School. A registration form for ISEE testing is available in the WCS Admissions Office. You may register online at www.iseetest.org.  The WCS test site code is 443459.  Parents are responsible for all registration and payment ($80) to the ISEE organization. 

All applicants for grades 6 and 9 are also required to take the Otis-Lennon School Ability Test.  Call the Admissions Office to schedule the 45 minute test.

 

Step 3  Interview                                                              

Interviews will be conducted for all applicants by our Upper School & Lower School Principals.  Both parents as well as applicants for grades 5-12 must attend.  Prior to this interview, families should review the WCS Parent-Student Handbook (located on the WCS website or pick up a copy in the WCS Admissions Office) and be prepared to ask any questions you may have. This appointment is scheduled through the Admissions Office. 

Open House

This is a great time for you and your family to visit with teachers and administrators, meet some of our students, look at curriculum, learn about extra-curricular activities, as well as tour the facility. Mark your calendar and plan to come!

Tours

You are invited to visit WCS to see our campus. A personal tour can be scheduled by calling the Admissions Office at 713-551-8100. We will also mail an information packet if requested.
