Admissions Policies

WCS admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs and activities generally accorded or made available to students of the school.

Applicants for admission to Westbury Christian School should be of good moral character, be eligible to re-enroll in the school last attended and be free from learning and behavioral problems. Report cards and test scores must indicate the students ability to meet the high standards expected of students at Westbury Christian School.

 

Admissions Procedures

Step 1 Application, Records, & Fee

Submit the following documents to the Admissions Office:

  • A completed Enrollment Application (WCS will notarize it for you if you sign in person in the Admissions Office.)
  • A clear copy of student’s report card for the current school year
  • Copies of student’s report cards for the previous 2 years
  • Copies of student’s Achievement Test Scores for the previous 2 years (TAKS, Stanford, etc.)
  • Copy of student’s up-to-date immunization record 
  • Recommendation Forms from student’s current English teacher and Math teacher (Forms can be downloaded from website-required for students entering grades 5-12) Forms must be mailed or faxed directly to WCS from the teachers. A parent signature is required on the form before it is given to the teacher. WCS uses the same form as several other private schools.
  • Copy of student’s birth certificate (required for K3, K4, Kindergarten and 1st Grade only)

 All Applications and records are previewed by the Admissions Committee.  If the student has met the admission requirements and space is available, you will be contacted to schedule a testing date and pay the Application Fee.

The following groups receive a priority status regarding enrollment:  Siblings of current students, staff children, members of an area Church of Christ, children of WCS alumni, and families enrolling more than one child.

Step 2 Testing

All applicants for K4-12th grade are tested.  The Developmental Test given to applicants for K4, K5, and 1st grade must indicate that the student is developmentally ready for our program. Applicants for 2nd-12th grades are given an academic test for reading and math.

Testing Saturdays for applicants for grades 5-12:

  • January 12, 2008
  • February 2, 2008
  • February 16, 2008
  • March 8, 2008 (for spaces still available)
  • March 29, 2008 (for spaces still available)

Applicants for K4, Kindergarten and 1st grade are tested individually (one-on-one) beginning in March if we have received all the required records listed in Step 1. Call for appointments.

Applicants for Grades 2-4 will be tested in small groups beginning in March if we have received all the required records listed in Step 1. Call for appointments.

Students who test for grades 5-12 in January and February will be notified in early March by mail regarding acceptance if we have received all the required records listed in Step 1.

All students who test in March (or after) will be notified by mail regarding acceptance approximately 2 weeks after testing.

The Admissions Office will send the family a packet to complete the enrollment process.

Step 3 Enrollment Appointment & Principal Interview

Both parents must meet with one of our Principals before completing enrollment.  Students entering grades 5-12 must also attend with their parents.  Prior to this interview, families should review the WCS Parent-Student Handbook and be prepared to ask any questions you may have.  This appointment is scheduled through the Admissions Office.

  • Turn in Contract and other forms.
  • Pay registration and other applicable fees
  • Meet with Counselor to discuss course selections and requirements (7th-12th grades only)   

Open House

This is a great time for you and your family to visit with teachers and administrators, meet some of our students, look at curriculum, learn about extra-curricular activities, as well as tour the facility. Mark your calendar and plan to come!

Open House dates are:

  • Tuesday,October 30th, 2007 at 6;30pm (K3 to 6th Grades)
  • Monday, November 12th, 2007 at 6:30pm (5th to 12th Grades)

  • Thursday, January 24th, 2008 at 6:30pm  (K3 to 12th Grades)

Wildcat Wednesdays

The Admissions staff organizes several "Wildcat Wednesdays" throughout the year. Families are invited to join us and enjoy coffee at 8:30am with the tours at 9am.

You are invited to visit WCS to see our campus. A personal tour can be scheduled by calling the Admissions Office at 713-551-8100. We will also mail an information packet if requested.
