Autumn Arnold, player no. 11, in a ready position. |
WCS 7th Grader Is A
Texas Tornado
(April 2008) Westbury Christian School seventh grader Autumn Arnold has been playing volleyball since she was six years old. This year she was selected to play with the very prestigious Texas Tornado volleyball club. According to her mom, Jennifer Arnold, who works at WCS, “Autumn needed to be challenged some more, and her coach suggested that she try out for the Texas Tornados.”
And she made it! Over 148 girls tried out for the 13 year old bracket, and only 48 were selected which formed four teams in that age bracket. Autumn said, “I feel very honored. I’m getting the best volleyball experience for my age group, and I’m making a lot of friends.” Autumn’s team, the Teals, compete in tournaments every other weekend. She said her team has won two tournaments and currently place fifth out of 75 competing teams.
Mrs. Arnold said, “Autumn is very disciplined and motivated. We encourage her not to be too serious and to have fun along the way.” Autumn’s future goals include playing volleyball at Pepperdine University and beach volleyball for the Olympics.
Autumn’s advice to others is, “Even though things get hard, keep going at it, and have a positive attitude for your team.”
