Mayor Bill White Will Address WCS Graduating Class
(May 2008) Each year Westbury Christian School’s administration has the task of identifying a speaker that will bring a fitting and challenging message to its graduating class. WCS is proud to announce that this year Mayor Bill White is the guest speaker! According to WCS Executive Administrator Mr. Greg Glenn, “Mayor White is a proven leader and has made a positive indelible mark on our city. I look forward to the challenges that he might set forth for our graduating class.”
According to the mayor’s official biography, “Mayor White's leadership has brought Houston together, as shown by his overwhelming re-election to a third term. He uses business practices every day at City Hall to improve service and get things done. He has aggressively attacked our community's most difficult challenges, such as investment in neighborhood drainage, reform of municipal pensions, holding the line on property taxes with rate cuts and increased senior exemptions, attacking crime hot spots and even faster removal of stalled vehicles to reduce wrecks and traffic congestion. For decades Mayor White and his wife Andrea have helped lead numerous charitable and civic organizations.”
Mr. Glenn said, “My hope is that our graduating class will be inspired to make a positive difference in their communities like Mayor White has in Houston.”
Graduation ceremonies for the WCS senior class will be held on Friday, May 23rd at the WCS gym. Last year, Congressman Ted Poe was the guest speaker at the WCS graduation ceremonies.
