WCS 7th Grader Performs in Whistle Down The Wind
(September 2007)Westbury Christian School seventh grader Kendall Ferguson just completed the Houston tour of “Whistle Down The Wind,” a musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Jim Steinman and directed and produced by Bill Kenwright. Kendall had a singing part in the supporting cast of children. Kendall said, “This is a big deal. It can get you going far.”
Kendall has already come a long way. At age seven she trained and practiced on the stage for one year with the Houston-based theatre production company Theatre Under the Stars. At age eight, she auditioned for and got a part as a munchkin in the musical “The Wizard of Oz.” Kendall said, “It was nerve-racking, but once I got up on the stage I knew what to do.”
For her part in “Whistle Down The Wind,” Kendall first had to audition with her production company, Theatre Under the Stars. She said this was a prerequisite for the follow-up auditioning for the musical, “Whistle Down The Wind.”
According to press agent Meridyth Garcia, “Whistle Down The Wind launched its first-ever U.S. National Tour September 9 through 22 at Houston’s Hobby Center for the Performing Arts as part of the 2007-08 Theatre Under the Stars season and then continues on to major cities including Seattle, Hartford, St. Paul, Detroit and Sacramento.”
Kendall said, “My friends don’t really know. They think it’s a small show.”
