Park Bench Dedicated in Honor of Melissa Dorriety
(April 2007) A very nice wood and metal-framed park bench sits in the Westbury Christian School courtyard in honor of Melissa Dorriety, late wife of WCS board member Rickey Dorriety.
In a recent dedication ceremony attended by Rickey Dorriety and his family, the WCS Lower School students began with a few praise songs, and Mr. Robert O. McCloy, WCS Executive Administrator, talked about the service and generosity of the Dorriety family to WCS. Mr. McCloy said that Mr. Dorriety’s many years of service to the WCS board of directors and the mission of the school has contributed to the success of the school. Mr. McCloy then unveiled the park bench, and invited Mr. Dorriety to make a few remarks.
Mr. Dorriety expressed his gratitude to WCS. He said since his wife, Melissa, passed away, he has been overwhelmed with support from the Westbury Christian School community. He said Melissa was very fond of WCS. Their son, Patrick, had graduated from WCS, and Melissa always had a special place in her heart for WCS. Mr. Dorriety said it is a fitting tribute to her memory to have the park bench in the courtyard where children play every day.
