Coaches Glenn and Carr Headed for Final Four
Westbury Christian School’s boys and girls varsity basketball teams are once again headed for the TAPPS State Basketball Playoffs on Friday and Saturday, March 2nd and 3rd at the University of Texas-Tyler. Head coach for the boys team, Greg Glenn, said, “As a team, we’re feeling confident. We’re getting closer to playing to each other’s strengths.” Head coach for the girls team, Russell Carr, said, “We’ve worked hard to get here. I’m just looking forward to playing against a good team.”
On Friday at 1pm, the Lady Wildcats face Lubbock Trinity Christian. Coach Carr said, “It’s a great experience to compete at that level – win or lose.” If the Wildcats win Friday, they face the winner of the game between Argyle Liberty and San Antonio Christian for the state championship. That game will be played Saturday at 1pm.
The boys varsity team will play Friday at 3pm against Midland Christian. Coach Glenn said, “Our inside game is continuing to improve. We play 11-12 players. We’re counting on everybody especially the seniors to step up and realize this is their last tournament in high school and give it their all.” In game play, the Wildcats have demonstrated great improvement since the start of the season. Coach Glenn said, “We didn’t panic after getting off to a slow start. We kept working and took it one step at a time. At this point our level of confidence comes from our repeated successes on and off the court. We’re not thinking about winning or losing. We’re just focused on the next possession.”
Should the WCS boys win Friday, they play the winner of the game between Second Baptist and Arlington Grace Prep for the state championship on Saturday at 3pm.
