WCS Lower School Students Participate in Fox 26 "Predator Check"

(April 2007) The fourth, fifth and sixth graders at Westbury Christian School recently participated in an on-campus local Fox 26 News program “Predator Check.”  In an interactive and informative presentation, Fox 26 News anchor Tom Zizka advised the students on the dangers of talking to strangers.  According to WCS Lower School principal Casey Farris, “The students learned a lot to help keep them safe and secure.”

During the presentation, Tom Zizka said, “Strangers have no reason to stop and talk to you.  It’s the trouble makers who want to get close to you and try to stop and talk to you.”  Zizka gave several tips on how to identify trouble makers and what to do if help is needed.  Zizka told students,  “Make a rukus.”

According to the Fox 26 News website, “Fox’s Predator check project has been very successful at giving parents tools they can use to identify problems in their neighborhoods and protect their families.”  More information on “Predator Check” can be found at www.myfoxhouston.com – type in the keywords “predator check.”

According to WCS Lower School principal Casey Farris, “WCS has a security process on campus.  Every visitor must check in and show their driver’s license to obtain a visitor’s pass.”  Farris said that even Tom Zizka had to wear his visitor’s pass.
