WCS Candidates for Student Council Officers Announced

(May 2007) The students at Westbury Christian are already looking ahead toward next year with enthusiasm!  Elections for the 2007-08 Student Council Officers are coming up next Tuesday, May 15.  Record numbers of students are going through the process of becoming candidates.  They are excited about the future of the Wildcat kingdom. 
Student Council sponsor, Reed Sutton, says “The reaction of our students toward this opportunity to lead in our school is a huge shot of adrenaline for our student body and school community.  To know that we have 22 high school students and 19 middle school students excited about increasing school spirit, creating more opportunity for community service, and being actively involved in positive change speaks volumes about the encouragement the students get from teachers as well as what a great year 2007-08 will be!”

Middle School students signed up for elections are; Tosin Ajiboye, Autumn Arnold, Darius Boykins, Bailey Carrow, Chad Chavez, Zach Corbut, Alexis Fuller, Christian Gibson, Devone Glenn, Katherine Houghton, Charles Ladd, Kaillyn Lewis, Ozy Nnadozie, Noble Pack,  Cody Rowe, Christian Sanders, Rasheed Sulaimon, Claire Stevenson, William Washington, and Kayla West.
High School students signed up to be candidates for election are; Isa Aburto, Joseph Apenteng, Luke Aschermann, Boss Chansangavej, Joy Chou, Jim Chu, Marian Fagbemi, Richard Glenn, Janice Hughes, Jarrick Jack, Aaron Johnson, Ryan Keenan, Nicholas Leonard, Russell Leonard, Alyssa Leyva, Emily Li, Kim Ngo, Glory Nwaugbala, Kevin Perry, Kristin Robinson, John Russo, and Jon Scott.
According to the WCS Handbook, all Student Council officers, Honor Society Officers and Class Officers are elected at the end of the second semester of each school year to serve the following school year. These elections are scheduled,
coordinated, and supervised by the office of the Assistant Upper School Principal. Student Council Officers, National Honor Society Officers and class officers serve one-year terms. To qualify to run for any position on Student Council, Honor Society Officer or any Class Officer, the following school requirements must be met:
1. A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0.
2. Generally excellent conduct.
3. No assignment to Saturday Schools or suspensions in the current school year.
4. Additionally, Officers of the Student Council, Honor Society or Class Officer must have attended Westbury Christian School for at least one full semester prior to their election.
The election is next Tuesday, May 15 during Homeroom Period.  Results will be released that afternoon.
