WCS Competes in Texas Christian Schools Interscholastic Tournament

(April, 2007) A group of 39 Westbury Christian School students competed in the Texas Christian Schools Interscholastic Tournament (TCSIT) held at Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas. According to Gracie Greer, WCS Upper School Assistant Principal, 11 schools from across the state and one school from Oklahoma participated in the competition. The TCSIT included numerous events ranging from Algebra and Art to Reading and Acting.

The WCS students comprised two teams – 33 high school students who participated in 27 events and six middle school students who participated in eight events. The high school team placed 5th overall and the middle school team placed 8th. Greer said our teams represented our school very well.

In individual scores, three WCS high school students won first place - junior Joseph Apenteng in Computer Aided Design, freshman Annie Pan in Algebra I, and senior Eduardo Mancilla in Spanish . Five students won second place - Joseph Apenteng in Art Portfolio, senior Alan Pearson in Photography, senior June Chevanintakul in Physics, junior Diem-Thuy Nguyen in Chemistry, and junior Jim Chu in Number Sense. In the middle school group, 8th grader Cody Glenn received fifth place in Comprehensive Math, and 8th grader Patrick Plant received 4th place in Ready Writing. The middle school group including Ben Calder, Lanstyn Williams, Christian Sanders and Matthew Jones placed 6th in Team Math.
