New President for WCS Athletic Association
Westbury Christian School has announced the selection of Cam Leonard as the new president of the WCS Athletic Association. Mr. Leonard who is also a WCS parent stated that he plans to continue the leadership of former president Mary Andrews. Mr. Leonard said that the WCS Athletic Association, under the leadership of Mary Andrews, has been a very active and critical component of the success of the athletic program at WCS.
Mr. Leonard said that he has already seen the strong level of parent involvement at WCS. He said that parents bring their many talents and time that contribute to the success of the WCS Athletic Association. According to Mr. Leonard, “This year, the WCS Athletic Association will be reaching out to the entire community to join with WCS in support of a new athletic complex.” Mr. Leonard said that as the athletic program has grown, the need for an athletic complex has become more immediate. Currently, home events are played in various locations including Bayland Park, Westland Branch YMCA, and Memorial Park. The Athletic Association believes that a WCS athletic complex will help to build attendance at WCS games which is the critical factor in further developing the athletic program.
Mr. Leonard is a native Houstonian and has two children attending Westbury Christian School including junior Russell Leonard who plays golf and is the manager of the varsity basketball team and freshman Nicholas Leonard who plays junior varsity football, junior varsity basketball and baseball.
