A New Era Begins: Westbury Christian (and Coach O’Neal) Return to 11-Man Football

This fall marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Westbury Christian School, as the Wildcats return to 11-man football with a familiar leader at the helm.

More than 25 years after serving as the school’s first football coach, Kris O’Neal is returning to Westbury Christian with a renewed vision for the program and a deep commitment to developing young men through athletics, leadership, and faith.

For Coach O’Neal, this opportunity is about far more than wins and losses. His goal is to build a culture rooted in discipline, accountability, excellence, and biblical truth—one that prepares student-athletes to lead both on and off the field.

With more than three decades of coaching experience, Coach O’Neal brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership to the Wildcats program. His career has spanned both campus and district leadership roles, including serving as Athletic Director at Tuloso-Midway ISD. He also spent many successful years at Seven Lakes High School before most recently leading Waltrip High School to back-to-back playoff appearances.

Throughout every stop in his career, Coach O’Neal has remained focused on developing the whole student-athlete. His “Ecosystem of TEAM” framework emphasizes growth in mind, body, and spirit—equipping students to thrive in an increasingly complex and ever-changing world.

That commitment to holistic development aligns naturally with the mission of Westbury Christian School, where athletics are viewed as an extension of the classroom and an opportunity to cultivate character, integrity, and Christ-centered leadership.

In addition to leading the Wildcats on Friday nights this fall, Coach O’Neal will bring his passion for education into the classroom, teaching AP Psychology and investing in students both academically and athletically.

Coach O’Neal and his wife, Lisa—English Department Chair at Taylor High School in Katy ISD—have three grown children and share a heart for serving others through faith, family, and leadership.

As excitement continues to build around the return of 11-man football, the Westbury Christian community looks forward to rallying behind a program grounded in purpose, tradition, and vision for the future.

Please join us in welcoming Coach O’Neal back to the Wildcats family, and make plans to be in the stands this fall as a new era of Wildcats football begins.
