Lower School Music
Building Musical Foundations
Students attend music class twice a week from K3 through 4th grade.
Curriculum includes:
Singing, clapping rhythms, and movement to music.
Playing simple percussion and Orff instruments (egg shakers, rhythm sticks, xylophones).
Learning core concepts like beat, rhythm, melody, and pitch.
Exposure to diverse musical styles and cultures.
Goals: nurture creativity, sharpen listening skills, build performance readiness, and develop a lifelong love of music.
Seasonal Performances
Fall: Christmas program each December.
Spring:
Grandparents’ Breakfast (February):
Annual tradition celebrating family and heritage.
Children perform songs for their grandparents during a festive breakfast event.
Builds pride, confidence, and connection across generations.
Fine Arts Night (May):
End-of-year showcase of student growth.
Features singing, instrument ensembles, and creative displays.
Celebrates accomplishments with the entire school community.
