We are pleased to introduce two more incredible members of the WCS 2026 senior class: Kahlan Johnson Desrosiers and Yuecong (Alex) Zhang.

Introducing Kahlan Johnson Desrosiers
When Kahlan Johnson Desrosiers joined Westbury Christian School in her sophomore year, she began a journey that would lead her to an incredible milestone — becoming the first in her biological family to graduate high school. Kahlan’s love for reading made English her favorite subject. Among the teachers who left an impression on Kahlan, Mr. Reid stands out for always finding a way to make her smile.
Kahlan’s time at WCS has helped her grow more open about her faith—both with others and herself. Her advice to younger students is simple but powerful: pray. The verse that became meaningful to her during high school is Jeremiah 29:11, which says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
When reflecting on her favorite memories, she recalls the pancake study night in her first year at WCS and laughing with friends Chris and Kaitlyn at lunch. During her time here, Kahlan found her own creative outlet through writing, which became one of her unique talents.
If Kahlan had to describe her time at WCS in three words, they would be “good, enlightening, and hard.” She hopes the legacy she leaves behind is simple but meaningful: “that she made it.” Kahlan’s story is one of determination, growth, and faith, and she looks forward to continuing her education in college after graduation.
Introducing Yuecong (Alex) Zhang
For Yuecong (Alex) Zhang, high school at WCS has been a season of discovery, growth, and connection—both academically and spiritually. If he had to describe his time here in three words, he’d choose “fun, meaningful, and exciting.”
Alex’s favorite subject is English because he appreciates what he calls “the art of language use.”. One of his proudest academic achievements was earning a 5 on the AP Calculus exam, a milestone that reflected his dedication and hard work.
During his time at WCS, Alex was introduced to God and began to understand the depth of what God has done for us. A mission trip during spring break deeply influenced his walk with Christ, helping him see faith in action and experience the joy of serving others. His advice to younger students is simple but powerful: read the Bible every day.
Outside the classroom, Alex found community and friendship through the soccer team. In fact, some of his favorite memories are from the field— including a moment that still makes him laugh: the time Jason Lu tried to stop the soccer ball with his hands, forgetting for a moment that he wasn’t playing basketball!
Alex plans to attend college after graduation and hopes to stay in touch with WCS by visiting when he has free time.
