As Westbury Christian School prepares for a new school year, the Lower School is welcoming a leader whose passion for children, commitment to Christian education, and heart for building community make her a natural fit for the Wildcat family.
For Francheska McIntyre, accepting the position wasn’t simply about the opportunity to lead a Lower School—it was about finding a place that already reflected the kind of school she believes children deserve. The moment that solidified her decision came during a campus visit.
As she walked through the Lower School, students greeted her with colorful artwork. Each classroom had prepared something special. Students cheered her arrival and welcomed her with spirited chants personalized to include her name. “It felt like home,” Francheska recalled. The experience made such an impression that later that day, she shared it with friends on social media, calling it “one of the top 10 best days of my life.”
Now, she’s excited to help create that same experience for every family who walks through Westbury’s doors. For Francheska, lower school education is about far more than teaching curriculum. It’s about helping them discover who God created them to be while developing a lifelong love of learning.
Where Joy and Learning Begin
WCS has been educating students for more than 50 years, and that legacy is especially evident in its preschool and lower school programs. Building on Westbury’s strong foundation, Francheska plans to foster a culture where students, families, and faculty experience genuine joy every day. She believes the preschool and early elementary years should be filled with wonder, curiosity, and opportunities to explore the world God has created—all while building the strong academic foundation children need for future success.
That philosophy is one of the reasons Westbury stood out to her. Rather than serving as childcare alone, Westbury’s preschool program intentionally prepares students for a successful transition into kindergarten with rigorous academics delivered through developmentally appropriate, play-based learning. Students are actively engaged through hands-on exploration, meaningful discovery, and interactive lessons that help build strong academic foundations while preserving the joy of childhood.
Children also benefit from longer recess periods that encourage healthy physical activity, creativity, social development, and unstructured play—an important part of the learning process. Preschool learning extends beyond the classroom through enrichment opportunities, including Spanish, art, and music, helping children discover new interests and talents from an early age.
Most importantly, every aspect of the day is rooted in a Christ-centered worldview. Children participate in daily Bible instruction and Lower School Chapel, learning not only about God’s Word but also how to live out their faith with kindness, integrity, compassion, and service.
About Francheska McIntyre
With 18 years of experience in education, Francheska McIntyre has dedicated her career to helping students learn and grow while equipping teachers and families to support their success. She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Dillard University and a Master of Arts in Human Services with an emphasis in Business Management from Liberty University.
Francheska began her career in the classroom, teaching fifth- and sixth-grade mathematics, where she developed a passion for helping students build confidence as learners. Her heart for serving children and supporting educators led her into school leadership, where she has spent the past eight years serving in a variety of administrative roles, including Dean of Students, Director of Student Support, and, most recently, Assistant Principal.
Taking a brief step away from education, Francheska accepted a role with a nonprofit serving families with young children. Over that year, she discovered how important the early years are in a child’s development, and a new passion was ignited. Francheska considers it a privilege to create educational experiences for families.
Both educators, Francheska and her husband, Carl, have a heart for serving others. Carl is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at the College of the Mainland. Together, they are raising their four-year-old son, who will attend Westbury this fall. Last year, they also answered God’s call to foster care and became licensed foster parents. Their family has since welcomed two young foster daughters, ages 10 months and 12 months, into their home.
As both an educator and a parent, Francheska understands the trust families place in a school. We share her belief that children flourish when they know they feel safe, valued, and encouraged, and our goal is for every child at Westbury to have this experience.
