Where Families Belong: Parent Life at Westbury Christian School

Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions a family makes. At Westbury Christian School (WCS), we believe that education is most powerful when families and schools work together. That’s why WCS isn’t just a place where students learn—it’s a community where the entire family can belong, connect, and grow.

From the moment families join WCS, they discover that parent involvement is both welcomed and celebrated. Our parents are active partners in creating the vibrant culture that makes our campus such a special place.

A School Community Built on Partnership

At WCS, parents have many opportunities to engage with the life of the school. Through organizations like the Parent Teacher Organization (PTO), Moms in Prayer, and the WCS Athletic Association, families play a meaningful role in strengthening our community and supporting students, faculty, and programs. These opportunities allow parents to serve, build friendships with other families, and make a tangible difference in the daily experience of our students.

Parent Teacher Organization (PTO): Building Community and Encouragement

The purpose of the Westbury Christian Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) is to build community between our families, fundraise needed funds and use those funds to support our teachers. The WCS PTO is at the heart of many campus traditions and events. Through thoughtful initiatives and volunteer support, PTO helps create meaningful moments for students, families, and teachers alike. hers, staff and school. Every WCS current parent is automatically a member of our PTO, but all families are invited to become Enhanced Members. Our PTO sponsors several activities throughout the school year that provides support, generates funds and/or builds community.

Some of the ways PTO brings the community together include:

  • Donuts with Dad, a special morning event that gives students and fathers time to connect before the school day begins.

  • WCS Spirit Nights, where families gather to enjoy fellowship and show their school pride.

  • Teacher Appreciation initiatives that celebrate and support the faculty and staff who pour so much into our students each day.

The PTO also supports teachers year-round through practical acts of generosity. The Amazon Teacher Wishlist allows families to send drinks and snacks directly to campus, helping keep teachers energized and appreciated throughout the school year. In addition, the PTO provides a Teacher Favorites List, making it easy for families to show gratitude with thoughtful treats or small gifts, especially during the holidays.

These small gestures reflect something bigger: a culture where parents actively support those who invest in their children every day.

Moms in Prayer: Covering the School in Faith

Another meaningful way parents connect at WCS is through Moms in Prayer, a global ministry that brings mothers together to pray for their children, teachers, and school community. Each gathering is a time for encouragement, connection, and faith-filled support. Through prayer, WCS mothers unite around a shared purpose—to lift up the students and school in faith and trust God’s work in their lives.

WCS Athletic Association: Supporting Student-Athletes

For families passionate about athletics, the WCS Athletic Association (WCSAA) offers another powerful way to serve. This dedicated group of parent volunteers meets regularly to organize fundraising events and initiatives that strengthen the school’s athletic programs.

WCS fields 30 teams across 11 sports throughout the school year, providing more than 300 roster opportunities for students in grades 5–12. The Athletic Association equips coaches and the athletic department with resources to support student-athletes as they grow in skill, character, and leadership. Their work reflects the school’s three-dimensional approach to education—intellectual, spiritual, and physical development. By supporting athletics, parents help cultivate school spirit and encourage students to pursue excellence both on and off the field.

A Place for the Whole Family

One of the most meaningful aspects of the WCS experience is the sense of belonging families feel when they step onto campus. Parent involvement creates deeper relationships, strengthens school traditions, and builds a supportive environment where students thrive. Whether volunteering at an event, praying for the school community, supporting athletics, or simply showing appreciation for teachers, every parent contribution matters.

At Westbury Christian School, we believe the best education happens when families and schools partner together. When parents get involved, the entire community grows stronger, and students benefit from a network of support that extends far beyond the classroom.

If you’re exploring Westbury Christian School for your family, we invite you to experience the difference a connected community can make. At WCS, you’re not just enrolling your child in a school—you’re joining a family.
