Senior Spotlight: Leon Bilnoski, Kaitlyn Marley, and Mario Cerros, Jr.

Each student’s journey reflects perseverance, growth, faith, and the relationships that define life at WCS. These Senior Spotlights highlight not only academic and extracurricular accomplishments, but also the character, convictions, and community that have prepared our students for what lies ahead.

 Meet Leon Bilnoski

Leon Bilnoski began his journey at WCS in 7th grade and leaves with a deep appreciation for faith, leadership, and teamwork. After graduation, Leon plans to study Management at the University of Houston, preparing for a future rooted in responsibility and service.

One of Leon’s favorite classes was Coach Hawley’s Bible class, where an in-depth study of the Gospel of Luke and engaging storytelling helped strengthen his understanding of Scripture. Another influential figure in his life was Coach Glover, who modeled strong leadership by balancing humor with discipline, lessons Leon carried both on and off the field. Leon is especially proud of earning all As during his junior year and being inducted into the National Honor Society.

Leon’s faith deepened through daily Bible classes and meaningful instruction from teachers who challenged him to live with integrity. His advice to younger students is to stay true to themselves, resist unhealthy pressure, and always choose what is right. His favorite Scripture, James 1:2–3, reminds him that perseverance is built through trials.

Some of Leon’s favorite memories come from playing baseball with his teammates, including the unforgettable day he hit his first home run at home. He describes WCS as a close-knit community where small class sizes foster lasting relationships. In three words, Leon sums up his experience as: “When is lunch?” Looking ahead, he is most excited about building a family one day and hopes to stay connected to WCS by supporting his younger brothers at future school events.

Introducing Kaitlyn Marley

Kaitlyn Marley has been part of the WCS community since kindergarten, growing into a thoughtful, creative leader shaped by faith and the arts. After graduation, Kaitlyn plans to earn her B.A. in English at Sarah Lawrence College and pursue a career teaching high school English.

Her love for literature was solidified in English II during her sophomore year, where deep discussions helped her learn more about herself and sparked a passion for reading and teaching. Mr. Blaine played a significant role in her journey, offering encouragement, honesty, and helping her discover a love for theatre. One academic milestone Kaitlyn is especially proud of is earning all As and Bs during the first semester of her senior year.

Kaitlyn’s faith grew through the school’s supportive community, where she learned that worship can take many forms, including music, dance, and creativity. Chapel services that addressed mental health left a lasting impact, teaching her to approach others with empathy and compassion. Her favorite verse, Colossians 3:23–24, encouraged her to work wholeheartedly for the Lord in all things.

From the D.C./New York City trip in 2024 to a memorable (and humorous) freshman-year injury during Aladdin, Kaitlyn’s time at WCS is filled with meaningful moments. She found belonging through theatre and band, describing the school as inspiring, homey, and Godly. Kaitlyn hopes her legacy shows younger students how to be comfortable in their own identity and plans to stay connected with WCS by visiting and keeping in touch with friends and teachers.

Meet Mario Cerros, Jr.

Mario Cerros, Jr. looks back on his time at WCS as a season of growth in discipline, faith, and character. After graduation, Mario plans to attend college and pursue a major in Aviation, with hopes of one day becoming an airline pilot.

Mario’s favorite class was History with Mrs. Hatfield, whose interactive teaching style made learning engaging and memorable. Coach Glover also had a strong influence on Mario, showing him how to balance fun with discipline and responsibility. One of Mario’s proudest moments was being accepted into college for his chosen major, marking an important step toward his future goals.

Throughout his years at WCS, Mario’s faith grew as he studied Scripture and learned from biblical examples—both successes and failures—that guided his life choices. His advice to younger students is to choose their friends wisely, recognizing that community strongly influences character.

Mario’s favorite memories include sharing the field with his friends in baseball, football, and track, even during a tough freshman baseball season. He found belonging in the school’s welcoming environment and describes his experience in three words: faith-centered, loving, and multitasking. As he moves into this next chapter, Mario is excited to make his parents proud and plans to stay connected to WCS by visiting his teachers each year.

Looking Ahead with Gratitude

As these seniors step into their next chapters, we celebrate the legacy they leave behind and the impact they have had on our school community. Their stories remind us that education at WCS is about more than achievement—it’s about faith, purpose, and belonging. We are proud of each of them and look forward to seeing how they continue to grow, lead, and serve beyond our halls.
