Senior Spotlight: Evelyn Carr, D’Sean Cato, and Bailee’ Pledger

Every senior leaves behind more than memories. They leave a mark on the WCS community that helped shape them. Through challenges, friendships, and moments of growth, these students have each developed a deeper sense of purpose and direction. As they prepare to move forward, we celebrate the journeys that have brought them to this point.

Introducing Evelyn Carr

Evelyn Carr’s time at WCS has been marked by determination, growth, and a clear sense of calling. After graduation, she plans to attend the University of Oklahoma to pursue a degree in nursing and earn her BSN, stepping confidently into a future she has worked hard to prepare for.

Evelyn’s passion for science was sparked in Anatomy and AP Biology with Mr. Reid, where she found both challenge and inspiration. These classes not only deepened her understanding but also prepared her for the rigor of college. She credits Mr. Santos as a major influence in her life, helping her separate the pressures of academics and athletics from her personal walk with God, while encouraging her to extend grace to herself and grow in confidence.

Throughout her high school years, Evelyn has taken pride in her academic achievements, from excelling in science courses to earning strong AP exam scores and college credits. Her faith has remained steady, even in demanding seasons, and was deeply shaped by her experiences on mission trips and the influence of mentors who invested in her life. Guided by Philippians 2:3, she strives to live with humility and purpose.

Whether on the basketball court, in the classroom, or supporting younger students, Evelyn has embraced every opportunity to build community. She describes her time at WCS as “a momentous occasion” and hopes to leave a legacy of connection across all grade levels. As she looks ahead, she is excited to begin her journey in nursing, a path she feels deeply called to pursue.

Meet D’Sean Cato

D’Sean Cato is preparing for a future in cyber engineering or cybersecurity. Known for his positive energy and strong relationships, D’Sean has made the most of every opportunity to learn and lead.

Math is D’Sean’s favorite subject. It came naturally to him, helping build his confidence academically. He credits Coach Hawley and Mr. Santos for encouraging him to grow spiritually and develop a closer relationship with God. One of his proudest academic moments came when his MAP test scores showed clear improvement, reflecting his hard work and dedication.

D’Sean’s faith has grown through consistent time in the Word and meaningful experiences like his sophomore-year mission trip. Guided by Proverbs 3:5, he encourages younger students to stay rooted in prayer and trust God’s direction. Some of his favorite memories come from everyday moments, especially laughing with friends in his third-period class, sophomore-year.

Through basketball, football, and track, D’Sean developed leadership skills and learned the importance of communication and teamwork. He describes his time at WCS as “fun, exciting, and extravagant,” and hopes to leave behind a reminder for future students to stay disciplined and complete their work with excellence. As he looks ahead, D’Sean is eager to meet new people and embrace new opportunities.
