Senior Spotlight: Jason Lu and Magnus McKenzie

It's our pleasure to introduce two more incredible members of the WCS 2026 senior class: Jason Lu and Magnus McKenzie. They both joined our Wildcat community in high school and have made significant contributions to our school.

Meet Jason Lu

Jason Lu began his journey at WCS as a freshman and grew significantly both academically and personally during his time here. Biology became a meaningful class for Jason because he did not understand it at first, and it challenged him to grow. Jason is grateful to Mrs. Banks for teaching him important life lessons that made a lasting impact.

He is proud of the academic progress he made at WCS, recognizing that consistent effort helped him increase his scores. Jason's faith also developed steadily, as he learned to trust God more deeply, pray every day, and attend church regularly. While there wasn’t one specific event that shaped his faith, the daily practice of prayer and reading the Bible became an important part of his routine.

One of Jason’s most meaningful experiences at WCS was the patience and kindness shown by his friends as he worked to improve his English. He created great memories on the soccer field, On the soccer field, and felt encouraged when teammates and classmates congratulated him after games.

Jason found a strong sense of belonging at WCS through sports and friendships. He describes his time at WCS as “happy, fine, and memorable.” As he prepares for college, Jason looks forward to continuing his education and staying connected to WCS by visiting next year.

Introducing Magnus McKenzie

Magnus McKenzie joined the Wildcat community in 11th grade and quickly found a place where he felt welcomed and challenged. With a strong interest in U.S. History and Government, Magnus has always enjoyed learning about the past and how it shapes the present. He names Coach Carr as one of the most influential people in his time at WCS, for teaching him the  value of discipline on and off the basketball court.

One of Magnus’s proudest academic moments came after a difficult quarter, when he was able to pass all of his classes and turn things around. Mr. Santos helped him grow in his faith by helping Magnus better understand the Bible and encouraging him to pray consistently. A verse that resonated with Magnus during this time was Psalm 144:1, a reminder of strength and preparation.

Some of Magnus’s favorite memories include pregame moments in the locker room before basketball games and the laughs shared during lunch last year. Even in his first week at WCS, Magnus felt accepted by his peers—a sense of belonging strengthened by friends like Kachi, who inspired him to stay positive and happy.

Through basketball, soccer, and track, Magnus learned perseverance and teamwork. He describes his time at WCS as “fun, welcoming, and challenging.” As he looks ahead to trade school, Magnus is excited to earn a living and build a future for himself. He plans to stay connected to WCS by supporting his former teammates at games whenever he can.

Please continue to pray for our senior class as they begin the second half of their final year at WCS.
