Each senior’s journey at Westbury Christian School is unique, shaped by growth, challenges, friendships, and faith. This week’s spotlight highlights two more of our seniors as they reflect on their time at WCS and look ahead to what’s next.

Introducing Xiyan Li
Xiyan (Peter) Li’s time at WCS has been marked by resilience, determination, and meaningful growth. Following graduation, Xiyan plans to attend college, building on a strong academic foundation shaped by hard work and self-discipline. Math stood out as his favorite subject, pushing him to think critically and persist through challenges.
A key influence in Xiyan’s journey was Mr. Riggs, whose guidance extended beyond academics. Through honest feedback and life advice, Mr. Riggs helped Xiyan grow both personally and academically. One moment Xiyan is especially proud of was applying to colleges independently, a step that reflected his growing confidence and responsibility.
Xiyan’s faith strengthened through conversations with other Christians at church, where discussions about God’s teachings helped shape his outlook and determination. His favorite Scripture, Joshua 1:9, served as encouragement during difficult seasons, reminding him to stay strong and courageous. He felt a strong sense of belonging at WCS through classmates who supported him and stood beside him when challenges arose.
Describing his WCS experience as hard, tough, and meaningful, Xiyan hopes to leave behind a legacy of perseverance for future students. As he looks to the next chapter, he is excited about earning his own success and plans to stay connected to WCS by giving back whenever possible.

Meet Evangeline Liu
Evangeline Liu reflects on her time at WCS as a season of personal growth and transformation. Chemistry stood out as her favorite subject, while Mrs. Booker played a key role in building her confidence by teaching grammar and helping her feel more comfortable speaking and expressing herself.
One of Evangeline’s proudest accomplishments was completing all of her classes in a language she was still learning, a challenge that required persistence and courage. Spiritually, she developed greater trust in God and confidence that her faith would continue to guide her. Her advice to younger students is simple: remember faith in your heart.
Evangeline’s favorite memories include playing games with friends and sharing laughs in Study Hall. Friends were an important source of encouragement for Evangeline , especially during difficult moments.
She describes her WCS experience as curiosity, growth, and transformation. As she prepares for college, Evangeline is excited to take greater control of her future and independence. She plans to stay connected here by following WCS through social media and remembering the community that supported her journey.
Stay tuned for more senior spotlights and please continue to pray for the WCS class of 2026.
